How can I import and export tags

If you have a set of existing tags that you'd like to be able to track in a group or you want to be able to do external analysis of tags then you can use the import and export features.

Export tags

To export tags, go to the Tags tab in a blog, monitor or space and in the sidebar choose the Export tags action. This will save details of the tags to a CSV format file which you can then import into a spreadsheet or some other external tool. The in the file tags will match what you have currently chosen as a search.

The file will contain the following columns:

  • Tag name
  • Alternative names, separated by a semicolon
  • Occurrence count
  • URL
  • Types, separated by a semicolon
  • Type URLs, matching the types and separated by a semicolon
  • Associations, separated by a semicolon
  • Association URLs, matching the associations and separated by a semicolon
  • Association roles, matching the associations and separated by a semicolon
  • Association role URLs, matching the associations and separated by a semicolon
  • Created
  • Creation type
  • Assign automatically
  • Used for tag types
  • Used for association types
  • Used for association role types

To export tags you will need to be a user with Export permission on tags in the group.

Import tags

To import tags, go to the Tags tab in a blog, monitor or space and in the sidebar choose the Import tags action. You can then paste the names of the tags that you want in the Tag names box and choose a type for them if needed. After selecting Save you will be given feedback about the tag creation and told if any already existed so were not created.

To import tags you will need to be a user with Activate permission on tags in the group.

Note that at present it is not possible to directly import a set of tags from the file created from the Export tags action, although it is planned to add this functionality in the future.
