Registration Details

Dear Jiglu,

During yet another Yahoo outage I managed to get a new Jiglu member; however she didn't like the fact that the date of birth and place of birth were mandatory entries during the registration process.

I've told her that the DOB is concerned with "over 18" groups and that the "country" isn't the country of birth but the current location and is needed for time zone-related data – my guesses!

Might it be a good idea to reword the registration proforma so it appears less intrusive?

Dear Jiglu Support,

Is it the flood that is delaying your response to Support queries and slowing down the server response?

Or is it Fire, plague, pestilence and Nigel being on holiday yet again?

We are aware of a current problem with the speed of retrieval of space home pages, which is being investigated right this minute.

We were unfortunately a bit short staffed over the holiday weekend.

We have a major new release of the Jiglu software that will be going live on September 15th, and the registration page is one area that we're making improvements to. It's one of the most important pages in the site so it's obviously vital that it's as clear and understandable as possible and that people understand just why we're collecting the information we do.

Home pages should now be appearing faster once again. We hope to continue making improvements in this area.
